What Is Palliative Care?

Palliative and Supportive Care is an extra layer of support provided by physicians and clinicians to help care for a seriously ill patient. Palliative care is NOT the same as Home Health (which is nursing care at home). Palliative Care clinicians (physicians and nurse practitioners) focus on medically evaluating patients to help control symptoms and reduce disease burden. This includes identifying root causes of discomfort and addressing these issues with medication adjustments and treatment referrals.

Sometimes a tough conversation needs to happen

we cannot change the situation life has thrown us into.

We can stop hiding from what is happening and talk about it clearly so everyone is on the same page. We take the time to discuss what your illness means and what we can and cannot do. Knowing the limits of what is possible, helps clinicians, families and patients find a path forward.

We will never shy away from this type of conversation nor will we ever abandon you. We are all in this together. God has a plan. We just don’t understand it at times.
